Ok , let's go for 7 crazy ideas I would like to implement for you !

1)  Par 70

Of course , the land dictates what's going to be the best course, but I will tend towards 70 rather than 72; Its much better for various reasons : when par is lower, Its a good challenge for low handicaps and easier for the average player. Less walking and less time to complete 18 holes . Its also less expensive to build and maintain... if that's a concern.

2)  Roads, walls, barns, ruins , towns ?

My dream course would be called " Lost city". You would encounter many of the above features. This course could zigzag around ruins or small buildings. And its not just about aesthetics ; It is really about making golf interesting, impressive and fun !

My favourite hole is the 17th at the old course, St Andrews, Scotland. You drive over a small building. A road and a wall are in play if you are over the green ! By the way, this hole is one of the most acclaimed in the world of golf.

Why not actively use that concept ?

=> Interesting lands to build a golf course on : Old quarries, old landfills , abandonned factories...

3)  14 holes golf courses

I think it wouldn't be less interesting to play 14 rather than 18 ; In fact, I think it could be a better experience for all ; Many players are tired after 14 holes and... 4.5 hours is too much time for a round of golf anyway !

Other big advantage : Less expensive to build and maintain ( 22 % less )

About distance and time of play , it would be the equivalent of 18 holes in 1900 that is : 5000 yards and 3 hours /round .

It wouldn't be a par 70 but 54 !!  I like that !

Although I like 14 , for a nice golfing experience, it can also be anywhere from 10 to 16 holes.

 4)   Buy it > Improve it > Resell it

I am very interested in improving existing courses; To improve golfers experience and make profits, you could buy an existing 18 hole course and turn it into a redesigned 14 holes beauty . The remaining land could be used for houses, cabins, short courses, practice areas or eco-friendly areas.

5)  Conventionnal golf  VS  Innovative & cost saving ideas

18 holes par 72 14 holes par 54
huge greens Small but stretched greens
111 large bunkers 40 small strategically placed bunkers
golf cart roads everywhere easy to walk ( short distance green to tee)

 6)   Chipping course ???

Never in my life, I have seen a chipping course !

Have you ? ; I am not talking about Pitch & putt courses ( holes from 40 to 100 yards). We are in beetwen the putting course and the P&P course with distances from 15 to 50 yards.

I can create a mix of a putting and chipping course so that beginners will enjoy playing with a scratch player !

( See drawing )

7)   Ideal driving range

Never in my life I have seen a driving range with a nice visible target every 10 yards, from 40 to 100 y .

Have you ?

It could be real grass as well as synthetic grass ( See drawing)
